ELA

Students will continue to work on their writing piece that compares schools from around the world to Banks Road. Once finished, they will publish their writing using Seesaw.

Math

Next week in math we will review mental math strategies for adding or subtracting 10 from a double digit number. We will also continue to solve story problems using addition and subtraction strategies learned up to this point. Our last assessment for the quarter will be on Thursday.

Science

Next week we will continue studying weather and learn about instruments used to measure weather.

Homework

This week there will be no assigned homework.

Field Trips

This year we are going to have three in school field trips with Science is Fun! Our first field trip will be on the Friday of the first week that we return from our track out. Permission slips for these field trips were sent home in your child's Friday Folder. Please return these as soon as possible. The total cost for the field trips is $24.00. Please send a check made out to Banks Road Elementary or cash to school. We must have the exact amount of cash brought in, as we cannot make change.

Sound Surprise: 10-4-2019

“Tune in” to discover the good vibrations of sound. Make molecules bounce and water fly! Create echoes with columns of air… and then chemically create slimy sounds in this acoustic adventure.

Solids Vs Liquids: 12-2-2019

Melting, mixing, absorbing and freezing… join us for science that really MATTERS! We’ll go on an ice fishing excursion and learn to measure matter as it changes from a solid to a liquid. Jr. Scientists will make “science ice” that will “grow-n-glow” to take home and study!

Circle of Life: 4-9-2020

From birth to adult… Journey through the life cycle of mealworms, butterflies, crickets and frogs. Junior Zoologists will study real live bugs, see through the eyes of insects and take home their own animal souvenir!
