ELA

This week we our beginning a new unit on fossils. During the first part of the unit we will read Stone Girl, Bone Girl and work on retelling the beginning, middle and ending of a story. We will also focus on how characters respond to major events and challenges in the story. Towards the end of the first part of this unit we will read nonfiction text on fossils and learn about the tools that paleontologists use.

Math

This week in math we will begin learning how to tell time to the nearest five minutes on an analogue clock. We will also discuss the importance of a.m and p.m. when telling time.


Social Studies

This week we will learn about maps, symbols, and cardinal directions.

Picture Makeups for Tracks 1, 2, 3

Tuesday, October 15th, is our picture makeup day for any students that were absent during pictures.

Field Trips (Our first in school field trip is this Friday!)

This year we are going to have three in school field trips with Science is Fun! Our first field trip will be on the Friday of the first week that we return from our track out. Permission slips for these field trips were sent home in your child's Friday Folder. Please return these as soon as possible. The total cost for the field trips is $24.00. Please send a check made out to Banks Road Elementary or cash to school. We must have the exact amount of cash brought in, as we cannot make change.
