I hope everyone is having a safe trackout. Down below are some resources you can use at home with your child until I receive more clarification as to what remote learning will look like in the upcoming weeks. Please view the video links below for more information on how to log in and use them. For a majority of the resources posted your child will need to log into their Wake ID Portal. Once logging into this portal they will have access to our Google Classroom page, which has additional links to resources. Students should be familiar with logging into this portal, but if they've forgotten how, then use the link below for additional information on how to log in. If you have any questions please email me at mbethel@wcpss.net or send me a message through Remind. As soon as I receive more information I will be in touch.

ELA

This week students will continue to publish their writing about the pollinators that they researched previously. After publishing their writing, we will use Seesaw to record presentations about our pollinators. You will be able to access these presentations through your child's seesaw account. We will also work on finding the main idea of multi-paragraph nonfiction text and summarizing.

Math

This week we will continue to work on measurement using customary and metric units of measure. Towards the end of the week will take our last assessment.

"Music In Our Schools"

Our annual "Music In Our Schools" performance will be April 16th. All students will receive a shirt for their performance. 

Read Across America: March 2-6

During the of March 2-6 our student council is sponsoring spirit week activities around Read Across America.

Monday - National Read Across America Day! - Wear a shirt with something on it to read.

Tuesday - Cat in the Hat Day! - Wear your favorite hat

Wednesday - Wacky Wednesday - Dress wacky

Thursday - Cozy Up to Reading Day! - Wear Pajamas (Regular shoes only)

Friday - Fox in Socks Day! - Wear mismatched socks

3rd Quarter Conferences

This week students will continue writing about the pollinators that they researched previously. Students will create detail sentences that support their introduction and focus statement and then develop a conclusion for their pollinator research book. As we approach the end of the week, writing partners will revise and edit their work.

Math

This week we will continue to work on solving story problems. As approach the end of the week, we will begin a unit on measurement using customary and metric units of measure.

Science

This week students will identify and describe mystery sounds and make straw kazoos to explore vibrations and pitch.

Our annual "Music In Our Schools" performance will be April 16th. All students will receive a shirt for their performance. 

Interims

Due to school closings, interims were not sent home on Friday. These will go home on Monday, February 10th.

This week students will begin writing about the pollinators that they researched last week. Students will create an introduction, focus statement supported with details, and a conclusion for their pollinator research book. As we approach the end of the week, we will begin revising and editing.

Math

This week we will continue to work on three-digit subtraction using base ten blocks, proof drawings,  and number lines. Follow the links below to see some of the strategies we will use in class. Towards the middle of the week we will begin a unit on solving story problems.


Science

This week students will identify and describe mystery sounds. We will also learn about volume and pitch.

This week we will learn about pollinators. We will use nonfiction text to gather information about bees and create diagrams of  bees. We will then work in small groups and partners to gather information about other insect pollinators. 

Math

This week we will work on three-digit subtraction using base ten blocks, proof drawings,  and number lines. Follow the links below to see some of the strategies we will use in class.


Social Studies

We will continue to learn about the economy. This week we will learn about global trading, imports, and exports.

This week we will continue to learn about  plants. We will focus on seed dispersal and pollination. Using nonfiction text, we will use text features to help us quickly find information to answer questions. As we approach the end of the week, we will use the information learned from these text features to write about the process of pollination. 

Math

This week we will work on three-digit addition using base ten blocks, proof drawings, expanded form, and number lines. Follow the links below to see some of the strategies we will use in class.





Social Studies

We will continue to learn about the economy. This week we will learn about wants, need, supply, and demand.
